Company of Heroes 2 - Winter Is Coming...

I picked up a beta stress test game key for this upcoming title when I liked the Company of Heroes Facebook Page yesterday.  I have been very eager to play the game because I am not sure I am going to purchase it.  I like the old Company of Heroes game as far as it goes but I think I have higher gaming priorities than it.

Winter Is Coming...

The interface is clunkier than I remember but there are some nice changes to the game like unit customization and weather effects.  The blizzard that hit my guys below came as a total surprise and really amped up the immersion level.  You can see the bonfire I positioned my Grenadiers next to because I was worried they were going to freeze to death, which apparently is a possibility.

German Grenadiers repelling an attack in whiteout conditions.  Checkout the bonfire behind them!
So the quick verdict after ten minutes of gaming at lunch today, I need to keep playing because I may get this game after all...

Lucky you, Chris. I too look forward to this one. Not a big fan of unit production system(prefer scheduled reinforcements)in RTS games but the first CoH definitely had its own taste. And this one looks really good.

I'm interested in your spin on this. CoH always felt like too much of a clickfest to me - too much a game, and not enough a sim. Maybe things are better inn CoH2?

Hi Doug. It's still a clickfest unfortunately and I agree with you that it would be better the other way around. I love the Eastern Front though and will probably purchase the game at some point but not at full price. I purchased the original Company of Heroes long after it came out for $4.99 on Steam. It was a great deal and worth the investment. I will keep playing the beta as long as I have access though. It is better than the original game in my opinion and seems to capture the Eastern front atmospherics well (weather, endless forests, etc.).
