German Panzergrendiers climbing bluffs along the Volga outside of Stalingrad. A special thanks to Doug at Cry Havoc blog and Tim Williams at RangerX3X blog for their help in playtesting this scenario. There were a number of challenges bringing this particular scenario to life and their suggestions were essential to fixing the gameplay issues. Scenario Background: 14 September 1942 06:30 Historical Scenario Two German armies, the 6th and the 4th Panzer Army, are racing across the steppe towards the doomed city of Stalingrad. The Soviet forces holding them back have retreated into the outskirts of the City as the Luftwaffe launches an unprecedented bombing campaign against them destroying much of the city and inflicting up to 40,000 civilian casualties. As the German commander, General Paulus your mission is to strike swiftly into the City and seize a number of objectives across a 35km wide front and then hold them against the Soviet counterattacks. As the So...
German troops take cover inside the Tractor Factory. To begin, a very special thanks to Tim at Ranger X3X and Doug at Cry Havoc for their playtesting Hubertus, their edits/suggestions to the scenario and their help with the creation of a playable Soviet estab file. Operation Hubertus is the 1st of three scenarios I have planned for the Stalingrad front. It covers three very intense days of desperate fighting near the end of German offensive operations in the City. Historically, after Hubertus' completion, the Soviets launched a counterattack and encircled the German 6th Army along with a collection of Axis satellite units. At the time of this operation, the German divisions within Stalingrad were almost spent, with many under 50% of their manpower. A plan was suggested to and approved by Hitler to use Pioneer units to eliminate the remaining Soviet bridgeheads. The Soviet formations within Stalingrad were in even worse shape with many hovering around 30% of their...
The 13th Guards Rifle division is one of those heroic Soviet units that you learn about after doing some reading about the battle of Stalingrad. 13th Guards commander General Rodimtsev They suffered almost 100% casualties and were present throughout key moments of the struggle: when the Germans entered the City, the fighting at Pavlov's House off January Square, the central height of Mamaev Kurgan, Operation Hubertus, the factories, etc. They of course make an appearance in my first Stalingrad scenario about Operation Hubertus. What's left of them (about 500 men) is clustered in fortified positions at the southernmost end of the 62nd Army's Volga river defense line. As part of the 13th Guards, I've also included Yakov Pavlov's small reinforced command and the apartment building that he held with his men in this scenario as well. The stats for Pavlov's men are above (I need to add in their anti-armour weapons (14.5mm anti-tank rifles). I am st...

I still need to finish my Vimeiro Les Grognards battle. Its a good sized battle and the terrain makes your troop placement and maneuver interesting.
