Command Ops: The Moselle Bridgehead

I am working on a new map/scenario called the Moselle Bridgehead.  This scenario will cover the breakthrough over the Moselle River in September of 1944 by XX Corps.  The US forces present are the 5th and 90th Infantry divisions as well as elements of the 7th Armored Division.

The opposing German force is the 17th SS Panzergrenadier Division.

The map is below:

This is my unfinished map for this battle.  The heights east of the Moselle are heavily wooded and these terrain features still need to be added in.
More details to follow...

Thanks Tim! Will do. I finished the map this morning. I will put the units and the objectives in and then we can playtest it before release.

The three roads that go through those heights should be fantastic choke points.

You are right Tim. I will load an updated photo of the map this morning. With the additional woods added it really makes the hills pretty intimidating.

This map details the left flank of the Third Army's advance on Metz and the rivers beyond.

I pulled everything from a US Military Atlas I got years ago. Has unit dispositions for Americans and Germans.

Each side will have 2+ brigades I think (still sorting that out). The history I've read about this fight is that the German units were reeling backwards trying to stay ahead of Patton. They prepared this defensive line around the ancient Metz fortifications and these two river valleys. Apparently 17th SS panzer was considered one of the top formations on the western front so I need to make sure thats reflected in the numbers.

Two brigades each should make for a huge battle.
