Wargame Airland Battle: Return To Gol
May 9th, 1985 1100 hours:
After Norwegian Home Defense Units and recon elements from Norway's regular army formation Brigade Nord were swept away by Soviet mechanized forces in the early morning hours of May 8th, NATO commanders quickly ordered a reinforced company of US Marines to return to the Gol river valley along Highway 7 to stall the Soviet advance.
Buying time for the 24th MAU to offload it's vehicles and the remainder of the battalion at the Norwegian naval base at Haakonsvern, Able company enters the valley from the west and comes under immediate attack by Soviet air and ground units. F-14 Tomcats from the newly commissioned USS Theodore Roosevelt cover their advance.

Doug at this point I think it is well worth it. I've only scratched the surface and find it more engaging than EE. Still some of the same issues (pace of play and the clickfest nature of it)but the deck building seems more thought out and they've opened units up so you dont need to play for 100 hours before you have enough command stars to unlock all of the super cool nato and Pact units.
