Command Ops 2: Sword to Caen

The Final Situation Map for "Sword to Caen." I suffered a marginal defeat but managed to drive the 27th Armoured Brigade into Caen after four days of intense fighting.
Command Ops 2 is not dead.  In fact, it has at least one dedicated scenario designer laboring away creating user-made scenarios centering on Caen and Sword Beach.

If he hasn't already, David Heath should consider asking this designer to create a few more scenarios for a Normandy Command Ops 2 module.

Take it from someone who has created my fair share of CO content, what this designer did is quite remarkable.

1) The map is top notch.  The amount of detail included took time (time I never invested).
2) The designer innovated.  Take a look at the screen above to see those blue static naval units.  The Saipan scenarios that were developed for CO1 had these (a good idea then and a good idea now).
3) The scenario choice to link Sword, Caen and 6th Airborne drops gives the Sword to Caen scenario a mini-Market Garden feel.  It was a great choice.
4)Scenarios of a manageable length.  Sword to Caen at four days with that reinforcement schedule leaves players on either side with plenty of choices to make.
5) The designer created an establishment force for these scenarios.  The unit labeling system is slightly different than what the game uses (at least from what I remember) but the establishment work is solid.

I have not had this much fun with Command Ops in years.  The chance to play "Sword to Caen" alone as the Allies is worth downloading this for CO2 and he has four more scenarios too (download links for both below)!

My day of work ended when I stumbled upon these free scenarios.  Have some fun and download them! You won't be disappointed.

Pegasus Bridge pack (includes Sword to Caen)

Battle for Caen (includes a monster scenario with over 1000 units)

I'm glad you like it.

For the Battle for Caen scenario pack I'm hoping to still include two more scenarios: Operation Wild Oats, which is an cancelled para drop south of Caen and Operation Charnwood, where the Allies seized the main part of Caen to the north of the Orne.

My two scenario packs together with the Epsom one from Pieter can basically be put together to form a module of the (albeit most eastern) British operations in Normandy.

Thanks Bert. As I said you did a great job. I will look at Pieter's Epsom scenarios too!

Hi. I have trouble with CO2 finding the map. Could you explain how to install the mods into the game if possible. Thanks. Sorry to be a nuisance. Tony

Tony, the zip files of both of my scenario packs have their own subfolders. So once unzipped you should just paste all of these folders into your Command Ops 2 folder and that's it.

If you need more info I've made a Steam Guide detailing the installation of Co2 scenarios: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1295001667
