Command Ops 2 Korsun: "Smela Sector" Screenshots

"Smela Sector" is a what-if scenario detailing the Soviet attack on the left shoulder of the German XI Korps. This is for Command Ops 2. It is an Eastern Front scenario with a new Eastern Front establishment file researched and created by Bletchley Geek from the CO forums.

The "Smela Sector" scenario details the fighting north of the historical Soviet offensive against the GE 389th Inf Div which led to the encirclement of the German 8th army.
A zoomed out shot of the northern half of the battlefield.

2 Soviet Corps comprised of 3 Rifle divisions, 1 Guards Rifle division and 1 Guards Airborne division will attack the Germans.

Planning windows are open as the Soviets kick off their holding attack.

My sincere hope is to make this available by Christmas.  Please stay tuned.

Nice, that is what CO 2 lacks more, eastern scenarios.

Thanks Bert. Sorry to all that the development is creeping along. Still working on some AI issues for the Soviet attack.

I'm playing this from the soviet side, SO glad someone made a soviet estab! I've been dying to make some of my own missions for the eastern front (part of why I bought the game, but didn't realize it was only western front which is cool, but not taking full advantage of what the game engine can do) the really massive absurd battles this game is practically perfect for were in the eastern front I have tons of books on it and was almost thinking of making my own estab file since I have a book (Soviet Military Operational Art: In Pursuit of Deep Battle, David Glantz) which includes tons of force organization and order of battle charts, and even more depictions of soviet operational formations and their evolution, taken straight from maps drawn up by the soviet general staff for study by their analysts and officers. Can't wait to play this through tonight and then start making my own eastern front scenarios that use some of the soviet operational formations, with realistic division reserves, front reserves, second echelons, Operational Maneuver Groups, etc. for wargaming a textbook breakthrough (wouldn't be a balanced scenario since they strongly believe in a numerical advantage for the flexibility necessary in a high temo breakthrough for holding back and/or encircling reserves that are committed to try and shut the floodgates. But it would be a nice exercise in conducting that type of operation!
